Svengoolie Does The "Man Made Monster" Electric Slide TONIGHT on MeTV!

Kicking off TONIGHT at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT on MeTV, Svengoolie offers up an electrifying screening of the 1941 film Man Made Monster.

In case we hadn't mentioned it before, our minds are officially in Halloween season – and we couldn't be happier! Helping feed that vibe are Svengoolie (aka Rich Koz) and the House of Svengoolie (Sarah Palmer's gorgeous ghoul Gwengoolie, Scott Gryder's devilishly ingratiating IMP (Ignatius Malvolio Prankerstein), and Bill Leff's the 800-year-old vampire Nostalgiaferatoo), back tonight for another Saturday night scare. Kicking off at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT on MeTV tonight, Svengoolie presents the 1941 Universal Pictures film Man Made Monster.

Directed by George Waggner, with a screenplay by Joseph West and a story by H.J. Essex, Len Golos, and Sid Schwartz, the film has a lot of things going for it. For example, it was released under a whole bunch of other names: Electric Man, The Mysterious Dr. R., The Atomic Monster, and Man-Made Monster (with the hyphen). It also includes some attention-grabbing performances from Lon Chaney Jr. and Lionel Atwill – with Chaney playing against type in a refreshing way.

Svengoolie on Tonight's Screening of "Man Made Monster": "This 1941 film has some interesting special effects for its time and definitely has some frightening moments. For those viewers who are used to Lon Chaney as the brooding, fatalistic Larry Talbot, or as the haunted characters he played in the "Inner Sanctum" series, it may come as a surprise to see Lon portraying such a happy-go-lucky fellow at the start of this film. Reportedly, this film was the reason that Lon was cast in his perennial role as Talbot, the Wolf Man. We'll tell you about the film's players, visit a strange sideshow, present a song, and again be bedeviled by Nostalgiaferatoo. Plus, we send up some clips from the film in Svensurround- and give you another dose of the silent movie silliness of 'Fractured Flickers'- all in a special two-hour format show!"
