Who's Got The Axe Factor? Violence And Mayhem To Welcome The Release Of Walking Dead Season 7

Mario Tilney Bassett writes,

If you watched it the first time around you'll remember The Walking Dead's record breaking Season 7 kicked off with Negan brutally killing two fan favourite characters. And Negan's weapon of choice to mentally break Rick Grimes, was of course… an axe.

So, to celebrate the release of The Walking Dead: The Complete Seventh Season, available now on Blu-ray™ and DVD, Bleeding Cool was invited south of the river to Vauxhall, for an evening of axe throwing at Whistle Punks.

On arrival we chose our allegiance: Team Rick or Team Negan. We went for Negan: villains always seem to have the most fun and the best lines. After all, what is a hero without a charismatic antagonist…

We were taught two ways to throw an axe at a target. The first was from a slightly crouched position, holding and then throwing the axe with both hands in a single motion as you rise up.

The second, a far more cavalier, one handed throw. This was the throw I was determined to master. The throw that, should the zombie apocalypse ever come, would see me slaying the undead with a style to rival Daryl.

It will come as no surprise dear reader that axe throwing is a tough thing to master in real life. Getting the power is easy. And accuracy gets better with practice. But getting the number of spins right, so the blade hits the target is much harder than it looks.

But perhaps it was for the best. Team Rick won, giving Alexandria hope and beating back Team Negan… for now.
