DC Walmart Giant-Sized Comics Make It to the UK – for Only Twice the Cover Price
I'm in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne today, a city I haven't been to for 20 years, not since Alan Moore's 40th birthday recording of Birth Caul. But I used to live here, as a student at the University and then working for local radio station Metro FM. So I took the chance to walk through the university and the city, refamiliarising myself with its landmarks.
Including a certain Forbidden Planet (previously Timeslip) on Grainger Street. And what was once a very small shop has expanded rather in the last two decades.
And downstairs in the basement with the rest of the comics? A few titles from the grey market, snatched off the shelves of Walmarts in the UK, posted to the North East of England and put on display.
That's £10 each — or around $12-13 these days. Twice the cover price, which is pretty good considering they will have been bought at retail price and posted halfway around the world.
Oh, and Kieron and Jamie? They appear to have sold out of this week's The Wicked + The Divine.
