In one of the dumbest-sounding Hollywood rumors to come around in the past few years, The Masked Singer's Jenny McCarthy had to answer a question about the latest viral rumor about her ex-partner Jim Carrey. After his appearance at the César Awards in Paris last month, where Carrey accepted the award and spoke mostly in French, the online rumor mill began to speculate about whether we were seeing the real Jim Carrey. With different theories sprouting up from his hiring a doppleganger to take his place at the ceremony, to somehow being cloned and sending a copy of himself to France.

Jenny McCarthy Does Not Buy Into Fan Rumors About Jim Carrey

Speaking to People at the iHeartRadio Music Awards a few days ago, McCarthy addressed the rumors in an upfront and classy way, saying, "It was definitely Jim Carrey […] He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him, that's the first thing I noticed. I said, 'Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.' […] You know, that's the part that, sadly, people miss, we're so obsessed with how he looks that we didn't consider how happy he looked. […] I'm so grateful for the years Jim and I shared together, I will continue to be in his daughter's life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart."

While it is funny to laugh at the fan rumors and the idea that Carrey would go to great lengths not to appear somewhere, McCarthy does have a point that he looks pretty happy for a retired actor in his mid-60s. Maybe we should leave the guy alone and let him be happy. And if it is a clone, it's good to know the tech has advanced to the point where we could all be cloned!
