Ch-Ch-Changes: Do More Delays Spell You Know What For #YoungAnimal's Doom Patrol?
Back in November, when Bleeding Cool learned that Doom Patrol, the flagship book of Gerard Way's Young Animal label, would see its fourth issue pushed back two weeks, to December 28th, we reasoned, at least it has expanded to 40 pages with no price increase. When Bleeding Cool noticed that DC's March solicitations contained no new issue of Doom Patrol, we still weren't ready to panic. March would see a Director's Cut of the first issue instead. Today, Newsarama reports that Doom Patrol #5 will not hit stores until January 25, but that's not quite right. Though it's understandable since #5 was originally scheduled for January 11th, Newarama has the wrong issue there. It's actually Doom Patrol #4 – the one that was originally supposed to come out on December 14, and then today, which has been delayed until January 25th.
Checking the solicitations, Doom Patrol #5 has already been pushed back to February 8th. Doom Patrol #6, the final issue in the first story arc, was originally set to come out on February 22. However, DC's website now lists that release date as March 29. These delays could increase with the most recent whole-month delay for Doom Patrol #4.
The only reason given for the delays so far is a December 14 Instagram post from Way:
Which reads:
Hey all— I wanted to take this opportunity to apologize for Doom Patrol Issue #4 being late. We put our all into this book and sometimes it takes longer than we expect. Your support and patience is amazing. We are working hard, and around the clock to deliver to you the best book possible. We will try and keep you updated on when the issue will ship, but it shouldn't be too much longer. Here's something from us to help hold you over while we keep it going. On Patrol together forever…we have so much cool stuff on the way…

It looks like fans will have to wait a little bit longer for all of that cool stuff. And, if the already-delayed fifth and sixth issues see even more delays due to the new delay for #4, maybe even longer than that. It's all very confusing, so we've adjusted the solicitations to make things clearer:
