John Ostrander Benefit To Be Held At Chicago Comic Con

ostranderLast month, Bleeding Cool reported on a benefit being organised for legendary comics creator John Ostrander, who is suffering from glaucoma and needs specific operations that his coming-to-an-end health insurance will only very partially cover.

Comix4Sight.com was set up by Mike Gold and Adrienne Nash (with Gail Simone on point duty) to raise money for his treatment. And this Saturday at 7.30pm, it comes to Wizardworld Chicago Comic Con with an auction of material that is truly one of a kind, with work from individuals including Neal Adams, Jim Lee, Paul Chadwick, Matt Groening, Andy and Joe Kubert, Timothy Truman, Bill Willingham, Howard Chaykin, David Lloyd, Francis Manapul, Bo Hampton, Mike Grell, George Pérez, Dave Sim, and more, as well as signed manuscripts and books by Marv Wolfman, Christos Gage and others. In fact, too much to auction off in one night, so the rest will be auctioned off online at the comix4sight.com website. Additional signed books will be sold by silent auction at the Comix4Sight/John Ostrander Benefit booth during the convention.

The campaign has already raised over $14,000 in cash contributions which is a good start. Any extra money raised over and above that necessary to treat Ostrander's condition will be used to benefit the actions of HERO, the charity that specialises in helping comics creators in times of need.

Entrance to the auction costs $40 including food and has been sponsored by Wizard and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel next to the convention.
