Marvel, IDW, Boom And More Join Scribd's All-You-Can-Eat For $9 A Month
Prose equivalent of Netflix, Scribd, is moving into comic books in a big way.
As of right now, they have expanded their all-you-can-eat digital reading service to cover 10,000 comics and graphic novels from Marvel, Archie, Boom, Dynamite, IDW/Top Shelf, Top Cow, Valiant, Zenescope and more, including works such as Locke & Key, From Hell, March, League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, 30 Days Of Night, Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers, Afterlife With Archie, X-Men, Lumberjanes, X-O Manowar, Runaways, Alec and My Little Pony.
All for $8.99 a month.
It represents a remarkable opportunity for comic book discovery, paying to read your favourite comics in a convenient digital format and then discovering many, many more.
Scribd will also let people follow favourite characters from story to story, read stories from issue to issue and browse curated collections such as Incredible Team-Ups, Classic Marvel Moments, Zombie Horror, Welcome to Riverdale, Funny Women, Supernatural Romance, and the like.
It's notable that DC, Dark Horse and non-Top Cow Image are missing, as well as Avatar. But those publishers have famously taken greater control over their digital distribution.
