Valiant To Unveil Bloodshot Build-A-Bear At NYCC
I've been wondering when Valiant would start doing more licensed merchandise. My guess would've been a line of Pop! Vinyl figures, but they went "cute" for the upcoming New York Comic Con 2017. The publisher is working with Build-A-Bear to unveil Bloodshot Bear, an NYCC-exclusive, full-size, buttercream teddy bear that will be limited to only 250.
Bearshot, as it's being nicknamed, will be priced at $40, will come with an official carrying case and a limited-edition Bloodshot Salvation #1 Bear Photo variant for the new series from Jeff Lemire, Lewis LaRosa and Mico Suayan. Valiant says that Build-A-Bear is a new licensing and promotional partner, so it's possible that Bearshot will be just the first of many Valiant bears in the future.
For those unfamiliar with Bloodshot, here is Valiant's line on the character:
"Created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992, Bloodshot is one of the most successful new comic book characters of the past two decades with more than 100 issues published and lifetime sales of more than 7 million copies in multiple languages around the world. After returning with a sold-out new series in 2012 and earning dozens awards and nominations from the industry's most prestigious honors, Bloodshot will soon make his big-screen debut in a hotly anticipated feature film adaption from Sony Pictures, directed by special effects visionary Dave Wilson (Avengers: Age of Ultron), written by Academy Award nominee Eric Heisserer (Arrival), and executive produced by Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe (The Fast and the Furious franchise) for Original Film and Dinesh Shamdasani for Valiant Entertainment."
Read the character sheet below; they've done a pretty good job of reworking Bloodshot's origin for a teddy bear.
Bloodshot Salvation #1 hits comic stores on September 20th.
