Windows To The Soul Of The Lakes Comic Art Festival
These are a few shots of the town of Kendal during last year's Lakes Comic Art Festival. The festival invading local store windows and creating a "trail" to follow…
This year's Windows Trail will do similar, creating a narrative the encourages visitor to the Festival to explore the rest of the town, as well as spreading events out and across Kendal.
Running from 3rd to 24th October, it will expand to include over thirty stores, including Youdells, Kendal Fisheries, Oxfam to Waterstone's.
To create the window displays, local schools, colleges, community groups and artists each pair up with a business/shop to creating an original comic art display.
Bryan Talbot will be mentoring the First Kendal Cub Scouts to create one store window and Sean Phillips will be working with the Queen Elizabeth School. Others involved include local cartoonist Colin Shelbourn, as well as more familiar comics creator names such as David Baille, Sally Jane Thompson and Gill Hatcher.
And Beales Department Store window will feature Festival mascots Poblin and The Lakes Gang designed by the Guardians's Jonathan Edwards.
