The Gifted Season 2: The Bond Between the Strucker Siblings Comes Back in a "Big Way"
Relationships and family have always been a key theme in The Gifted. Whether it is the found family relationships of the Mutant Underground or the Strucker family bond, that theme is central to this show. One of the ways The Gifted Season 2 has messed with those bonds is splitting up Marcos, Lorna, and Andy from the rest of the Strucker family. Andy and Lauren share a very special bond and showrunner Matt Nix spoke to TV Line about how that connection will be explored in these final two episodes.
"Let me just say this: One thing we know is that's serum works, but it doesn't work for very long. So, the Andy/Lauren connection is definitely coming back — in an even bigger way."
When it comes to the season finale, it sounds like things might not go so well for our heroes. If this season has taught us anything it's that being the good guys doesn't mean you're always going to win.
Nix teased "a lot of tragedy and a lot of hope," adding: "Some big stuff happens that made people cry on the set."
The fate of The Gifted is still very much in the air. Fox hasn't canceled the series but they also haven't renewed and The Gifted Season 2 numbers haven't been great. Nix has said that he thinks there is a chance that the show could come back on a streaming platform should Fox decide to pull the plug.
Action-adventure family drama THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
Created by Matt Nix, FOX's The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percey Hynes White, Sean Teale, Emma Dumont, Jamie Chung, and Blair Redford. It will air on February 19th at 9 PM.
