Two weeks ago, Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman and Young Justice/Spectacular Spider-Man producer had his Twitter/X account hacked, as well as his e-mails. This saw the hacker change his account ID from @Greg_Weisman to one that uses the N-Word… with a hard R, but retaining all of Greg's followers and access to direct messages. Greg Weisman has now regained access to @Greg_Weisman but was restricted by Twitter. He states, "My account was taken over I was able to get my username back. gonna be using this one from now on." The N-Word hacked account, however, appears to still be active, with all of Greg's social media assets. It has posted leaked e-mails between Greg Weisman and Marvel, and has also posted its own (i.e. not from Greg) racially and sexually abusive messages and links to adult videos.

The leaked information included a now-emptied Dropbox folder shared with Kyle Higgins, and two pieces of information, a discussion about the press release for the upcoming Spider-Men comic book and what Greg Weisman's quote would be, as well as his page rate for Spider-Men #1, a 30-page comic book story at $55 a page for plot, $55 a page for script, totally $110 a page, or $3300 for the comic. It's often impossible to find out what comic creators get paid for their work, especially from Marvel and DC, as they are often bound by NDAs. This definitely appears to be a relatively low rate for such a high-profile creator on a high-profile book. But that's a whole other conversation.

How the hack occurred, or who by, we don't know. Of late, Greg Weisman has been targeted by some online for claiming that he has been "striving for woke" before he knew it was a term. Either way, it is a reminder for us all to have two-stage password clearance on our social media and e-mail.

Greg Weisman and Marvel Comics did not respond to e-mail inquiries.
