Preview The Chimera Brigade From Titan – Metahumans Fighting It Out During WWII
The Chimera Brigade, a 48 page hardcover graphic novel is arriving from Titan Comics at the end of October featuring the writing of Serge Lehman and Fabrice Colin and the artwork of Gess and Celine Bessoneau. It strikes me as being an interesting mix of stylistic impulses and concepts, a little like Sledgehammer 44 from Dark Horse and a bit like Anna Mercury from Avatar Press, the former because of its eye toward detail of historical WWII settings and the use of highly mechanized suits (though here there seems to be a human element) and like Anna Mercury because there'll be a daredevil attitude at work to judge from this preview. We're looking at European superheroes in The Chimera Brigade, and whether they will fight it out amongst themselves in WWII or find a greater, uniting threat.
Here's Titan's description:
Europe. World War II. Witness the rise and fall of the European super-heroes!
The year is 1938, and a new generation of superhumans, born as a side effect of secret chemical weapons, have taken control of the capital cities of Europe… Some fight against injustice, others spread terror.
Above the law, above human authority, these strange metahumans capture the imagination of the public, even as they baffle scientists with their impossible powers.
But a new, more powerful threat is looming, one that could yet erase them from existence and shift the balance of power.
