'Halloween' 2018: Jamie Lee Curtis Rightfully Gets to Boast
Who woulda thought 40 years after the initial release of John Carpenter's classic Halloween starring Jamie Lee Curtis in 1978 we'd be seeing a [true] sequel breaking records?!?
As Curtis tweeted on Sunday October 21st, the 2018 Halloween directed by David Gordon Green is enjoying some very interesting firsts and record-breaking status.
She points out in her TOTALLY DESERVING boast post that Halloween [2018] is now the single biggest horror movie opening with a female lead, the biggest movie opening with a female lead over the age of 55, the second biggest October movie opening EVER, and the biggest opening in Halloween franchise history.
There is obviously something (if not many things) about this particular film that's speaking to audiences, and we're pretty happy to see it happening in a time when female filmmaker's voices are STILL struggling to be heard.
Maybe this means if there IS a sequel about the future of the Strode women, it'll be directed by a woman? Just a thought.
Halloween is currently in theaters now, and pulled in an impressive $77.5 million in it's opening weekend.
