Beauty and the Beast Prequel Series Adds Hawkeye Star Fra Fee to Cast
Looks like The Mouse gave Fra Fee another offer he couldn't refuse with a role in the Beauty and the Beast prequel series for Disney+. The live-action musical series was originally ordered for the streamer in June 2021 with stars Luke Evans and Josh Gad set to reprise their respective roles as Gaston and LeFou (Louie) from the 2017 live-action film of the same name. Also joining them, according to Variety, is newcomer Briana Middleton, who will play Tilly, Louis' stepsister. Set in the iconic kingdom of "Beauty and the Beast" years before the Beast and Belle's romance, the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with Tilly after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the trio off on an unexpected journey. Fee will star as Prince Benoit Berlioz, a childhood friend of Tilly's who has grown into a handsome, charismatic, confident prince.
Fee is coming off the Marvel Studios TV hit Hawkeye playing Kazi Kazimierczak, a member of the Tracksuit Mafia and best friend of Maya Lopez (a.k.a Echo), who is played by Alaqua Cox. Kazi, who's received similar training to his best friend, also acts as her ASL translator and joins her on her crusade to seek out the Ronin who killed her father. Fee also appeared in the live-action Cinderella with Camila Cabello and the 2012 adaption of Les Misérables. Beauty and the Beast is planned to have an eight-episode run for the streamer. Gad, Edward Kitsis, and Adam Horowitz developed and wrote the series, and will serve as executive producers. Evans will also executive produce as will Liesl Tommy, who directed the first episode; and composer Alan Menken. Production is slated to begin in spring 2022.
