FX has FINALLY released a full-length trailer for their upcoming limited series Fosse/Verdon about the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse and his muse/wife, Gwen Verdon. The pair will be played in the series by Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell and multi Oscar-nominee Michelle Williams.
The miniseries will explore the onstage and offstage relationship between the two; the partnership highs and lows included working on such shows that defined their legendary careers- you know, like "Chicago".
Williams stopped by Busy Phillips' show Busy Tonight, and the pair talked about what drew the highly-decorated film actress to a tv role:
Lin-Manuel Miranda is executive producing alongside Rockwell and Williams, as well as Thomas Kail (who is also directing the pilot), George Stelzner, Joel Fields, Steven Levenson (who wrote the pilot and will serve as showrunner), as well as Fosse and Verdon's daughter Nicole Fosse.
Andy Blankenbuehler is set to choreograph along with Susan Misner, who will also appear as Joan McCracken. Alex Lacamoire will serve as supervising music producer.
Kelli Barrett will appear as Liza Minnelli, Bianca Marroquin as Chita Rivera, Norbert Leo Butz as Paddy Chayefsky, Ethan Slater as Joel Grey, and Laura Osnes as Shirley MacLaine.
Bob Fosse is a visionary filmmaker and one of theater's most influential choreographers and directors. Gwen Verdon is the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Fosse/Verdon will tell the story of these two brilliant, complicated individuals – the love they shared, the art they created, and the price they paid in the pursuit of greatness.
Fosse/Verdon will hit FX on April 9th, 2019.
