Comixology Bestseller List – 14th September 2018 – DC Going Through a Dry Spell?

Welcome to the Comixology Bestseller list, your guide to see how well your favorite titles are selling digitally. Every week I'll post the ranking of every new title, plus a ranking of the best selling volumes & graphic novels. As always, I hope you find it interesting and informative.

5 weeks ago, the return of the Fantastic Four gave Marvel its first No. 1 ranking. Marvel also took 3 of the top 4 spots, but DC filled out the rest of the Top 10 and won it 7-3. In the weeks since:

• August, 3rd Wednesday: Marvel wins 5-4-1
• August, 4th Wednesday: 5-5 Tie
• August, 5th Wednesday: Marvel wins 8-2
• September, 1st Wednesday: Marvel wins 5-3-2

And this week? The final Top 10 score is Marvel 5, DC 4, Image 1. Marvel took the top 3 out of 4 spots again, X-Men Blue jumped Wonder Woman, and the latest Sandman Universe debut, The House of Whispers, performed well under expectations compared with The Dreaming.

So there's no doubt about it: DC is going through a dry spell. But that's ok, because even the best teams have a losing streak now and again. There is some good news on the horizon for DC, however: Both Mister Miracle and Doomsday Clock will be making appearances this month. Batman: Damned will soon be kicking off the Black Label. Heroes in Crisis is poised to make a huge splash. And if Justice League Odyssey can come close to the rankings of the other two current JL books, DC can rebound in no time.

That is, unless all the hype and attention goes to Wolverine's return.

While I was putting together this week's list, I was taken aback seeing how far some titles with impressive debuts have fallen.

• Catwoman: Debuted at 8, now at 18
• Plastic Man: Debuted at 9, now at 22
• Exiles: Debuted at 13, now at 31
• The Immortal Men: Debuted at 10, now at 36

If you dropped these titles, we'd like to hear why in the comments. And if you're still reading them, we'd love to hear that, too. I personally think The Immortal Men was a great, intriguing comic with a ton of potential, and I'm completely shocked over its collapse. A damn shame in my humble opinion.
