"Saved by the Bell": Tiffani Thiessen Returning for Sequel Series, Mark-Paul Gosselaar Confirms
Chalk up one more for the OG Bayside crew as Tiffani Thiessen, who played Kelly Kapowski, makes her triumphant return to Saved by the Bell in NBC Universal's Peacock sequel television series. Her co-star and on-screen husband Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris) confirmed the news to TV Line.
Thiessen played the role in original Saved by the Bell NBC series run (1989-1992). She reprised the role for two related TV-movies in Hawaiian Style and Wedding in Las Vegas and the spinoff series The College Years. She currently stars in the Netflix series Alexa & Katie.
How Original Cast Factors In…
Gosselaar initially stated that Thiessen would return "in some capacity" in January – but at the SCAD aTVfest 2020 in Atlanta, he provided more details: "As far as I know, she will be in an episode or two with me. She was, at the time, working on [Netflix's Alexa & Katie]".
When it came to the last two members of the original Saved by the Bell cast in Lisa (Lark Voohries) and Screech (Dustin Diamond), Gosselaar said he only read the project's first and eighth scripts and has no idea if the writers planned to make any mention of them.
Both Voohries and Diamond confirmed they weren't approached. Gosselaar will appear in three episodes and serve as executive producer along with castmates Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley. The latter two reprise their roles as AC Slater and Jessie Spano, respectively.
The Mixed-ish actor added his limited availability prevents him from committing to more episodes: "The fact that ABC is allowing me to do something for NBC, I'm super gracious that they're allowing me to do that."

Josie Totah, Mitchell Hoog, Belmont Cameli, Haskiri Velazquez, Alycia Pascual-Pena, and John Michael Higgins are also set to star.
Peacock's Saved by the Bell sequel series is set to premiere this fall.
