Anthony Oliveira's Apocrypha – Buffy The Vampire Slayer Meets Paradise Lost For 2023

Anthony Oliveira is best known for writing comics such as Steven Universe, War of the Realms, Pros and (Comic) Cons and Shout Out. But the comics creator, who describes himself as a writer / turbo-gay dumpster raccoon, has just seen his new graphic novel Apocrypha, picked up for publication by Stephanie Guerdan at HarperTeen. He tells his Patreon.

The story of queer teens in love versus the apocalypse, those of you who have been following along with THE DEVIL'S PARTY will recognize a lot of the elements of Milton's cosmology and queerness as having shaped this story, and it's been such a joy growing it alongside such a vital, engaged audience like all of you!!

Thank you all – truly working through these texts with all of you and learning from all your comments and questions has been the joy go my academic and writerly life!!  AHHHHHHH

Apocrypha, is pitched as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Paradise Lost, in which 'a teen guided by an angel and another possessed by a demon find themselves at the center of a terrible cosmic war—and their own confusing queer awakenings'. Apocrypha is planned to be published in the winter of 2023. His agent Lauren Abramo at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret brokered the deal.
