The World of John Buscema: The Art of the Michelangelo of Comics, On Display in Italy

Lucca Comics & Games is one of the largest comic book conventions. This year they will be teaming with the Rome-based CArt Gallery for a new exhibition to  run alongside the show – The World of John Buscema: The Art of the Michelangelo of Comics.

Not only does that speak to John Buscema's influences but also acknowledging that his work has influenced Italian artists of international level, such as Gabriele Dell'Otto, Simone Bianchi and Claudio Castellini.

CArt Gallery, the first Italian art gallery dedicated exclusively to the original comic artworks, will work with Lucca Comics & Games to offer Italian and international fans the chance to see his original art in person

"The World of John Buscema: The Art of the Michelangelo of Comics" will be the largest exhibition in the world dedicated to the work of John Buscema. It will host almost 50 pieces of original art, including his work on Conan The Barbarian, Thor, Tarzan of the Apes, Silver Surfer, including full stories.

The exhibition will debut at Lucca Comics and Games 2019 in the Chiesa dei Servi in Lucca from October 3rd to November 3rd and then continue afterwards in Rome, at CArt Gallery from the 9th of November to the 20th. A limited catalogue will be published containing all the artworks on display, with an introduction written by Gabriele Dell'Otto, available at the show.

Open in Rome for seven years, CArt Gallery has organized exhibitions dedicated to Italian and international artists such as Will Eisner, Guido Crepax, Gabriele Dell'Otto, Simone Bianchi, Magnus, Enrique Breccia, Lorenzo Pastrovicchio, Claudio Castellini, José Munoz, Jordi Bernet and many more.
