Netflix Unleashes 'The Haunting of Hill House' First-Look Images, Sets Premiere

Netflix is unleashing first-looks at The Haunting of Hill House, the streaming service's series adaptation of Shirley Jackson's classic horror novel starring Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones), Carla Gugino (Watchmen), and  Timothy Hutton (American Crime). Created and executive-produced by director Mike Flanagan (Hush, Oculus), the 10-episode gothic thriller is set to premiere on Friday, October 12 (so close but yet so far from a cool "Friday the 13th" tie-in).

Described as "a modern reimagining" of Shirley Jackson's iconic gothic horror novel from 1959, The Haunting of Hill House explores a group of siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, and forced back together in the face of tragedy, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past — some of which still lurk in their minds while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House.

The Haunting of Hill House also stars Elizabeth Reaser (Manhunt: Unabomber), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Emerald City), Henry Thomas (Gerald's Game), Kate Siegel (Hush), Victoria Pedretti (Sole), Lulu Wilson (Sharp Objects), McKenna Grace (Designated Survivor), Paxton Singleton (Alice Fades Away), Violet McGraw (Love), and Julian Hilliard (Never Goin' Back).

Co-showrunner Meredith Averill (Jane the Virgin) will also executive produce, alongside Trevor Macy, Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank. Amblin TV and Paramount Television serve as the production studios.
