"Black Lightning" Releases Wayne Brady/Tyson Spikes AKA Gravedigger First-Look; New "The Book of Markovia: Chapter Three" Preview
Now that the dust has settled from "Crisis on Infinite Earths" – and The CW's Arrowverse is a bit more "cozier" because of it – the changes are starting to be felt across all of our shows. Arrow ended its run in grand fashion after eight seasons – only to pass the bow-n-arrow over to (potentially) Green Arrow and the Canaries; while The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow have to rewrite their "universe scorecards" to adjust for some major changes in the status quo. Did we mention Black Lightning doesn't have the benefit of past crossovers to help with its transition? Meanwhile, viewers have Superman & Lois to look forward to down the road as the pilot script was given a series order. Yup, change is in the air – and throughout the universes.
Black Lightning is bringing a very familiar face aboard this season, starting with Feb. 10th's "The Book of Markovia: Chapter Four" – that's when Let's Make a Deal host, The Masked Singer winner, and actor Wayne Brady is set to join the Arrowverse series in the role of Tyson Spikes aka Gravedigger. Now the fine folks at EW are giving us a first-look at his debut (see below).
Brady's Spikes/Gravedigger is described as a World War II-era member of the U.S. military who became a "super soldier" after a secret experiment gifted him with enhanced strength, agility, tactical genius and hand-to-hand combat expertise. After the war, Spikes defected to the country of Markovia rather than return to a segregated America. His aim to create a sovereign land for metahumans within Markovia sets him on a collision course with the ASA and Black Lightning.
Which brings us to the following promo and preview images for this week's "The Book of Markovia: Chapter Three", where we see the fallout from Lynn's (Christine Adams) plans for Tobias (Marvin "Krondon" Jones III) taking a really bad turn. Jefferson (Cress Williams) and Anissa (Nafessa Williams) make an unexpected "bigger picture" team-up, as Lynn… well… let's just say things may get a little worse before they get better…
Even if it looks like there's a plan formulating to rescue Lynn, as it looks like there is in the following new preview:
"Black Lightning" season 3, episode 12 "The Book of Markovia: Chapter Three": DEMONS – Jefferson (Cress Williams) and Anissa (Nafessa Williams) join forces with the ASA to help one of their own. Meanwhile, Lynn (Christine Adams) is forced to continue battling her demons. China Anne McClain, James Remar, Damon Gupton, Marvin Jones III and Jordan Calloway also star. Bille Woodruff directed the episode written by Adam Giaudrone & Lynelle White (#312)
