EXCLUSIVE: Chase Variant from Image Comics by Saverio Tenuta, Bagwell and… me.
Coming from Image Comics in February, Chase Variant One Shot (Is All I Need), a metatextual action adventure about a four armed short packed tattooed assassin and the unseen card game that drives her every move.
Two artists work on different chapters in the book, Italian artist Saverio Tenuta, is known in the US for his Heavy Metal work and for JLA: Riddle Of The Beast, while French-based Bagwell is best known for his work on 2000AD. Both create highly detailed colour artwork that tell distinct chapters within the oneshot. And, yes, the book is written by me. I'm very cheekily announcing it at the Avatar Panel going on right now at Big Apple.
I'll probably be describing it as "the ultimate example of having your cake and eat it – a metaphysical treatise on free will, influence, storytelling and how mundane events can have exponential effects. And a busty babe blasting bazookas." Bagwell provides the standard cover (pictured) with Rob Liefeld creating a variant chase cover (on the way).
You have to admire my chutzpah here, no?
Part of the one shot was printed in the Liam Sharp anthology Event Horizon from Mam Tor and I've been looking for a home for the full comic for a while now. Thankfully, because I've recently written a number of comics, including the Avatar series Holed Up, spoofs from Brain Scan, namely Civil Wardrobe and Watchmensch as well as the graphic novella The Flying Friar, the IDW licensed Doctor Who: A Room With A Deja View as well as contributing to Image's music anthology This Is Souvenir, now everything's fallen into place.
And I want my movie deal. Please buy my new comic. Thank you.
