Preview: America's Got Powers #1 by Bryan Hitch and Jonathan Ross
Saga #1 from Image Comics debuted at number forty on the Diamond charts in March, beating out the higher profile fantasy title Fairest #1 from Vertigo. I understand that The Walking Dead from Image may well be joining it in the top fifty for April.
But the comic that should really be busting the charts for this month comes out next week. No, not Iron Muslim. But America's Got Powers by Jonathan Ross and Bryan Hitch from Image Comics. The first non-Marvel work from Bryan for some time, the first creator owned work from Bryan for even longer. 38 pages of it for $2.99. An incredible bargain, that also happens to have one of the hottest artists today and written by one of the biggest celebrities in Britain, Jonathan Ross.
And here is a preview of that first issue. I think it looks incredible. Those bright panels smashing against the white gutters without a line between them, those horrifically smiling masks, the insider procedural gameshow aspects, the superhero and the reality TV aspect are a perfect fit.
There is no way that most comic stores have ordered enough of this book. Image Comics have already sold out their rather large overprint and a second print is on the way. Have you reserved your copy yet? If not…

If you buy only one comic next week, make sure it's America's Got Powers. If it's sold out, then you may try Iron Muslim.
