Joe Harris Vs. Sodastream Over Great Pacific
SodaStream have a new campaign. As part of their aim to get people to stop buying soda bottles and buy their product instead, coincidentally reducing plastic use and pollution in the process. It's called The Secret Continent, and its an awareness measure of the collection of plastic circling and swirling around itself in the Pacific.
And, also coincidentally, soda drink companies in the spotlight for the blame. Even though it could be made up of old SodaStream dispensers for all we know.
We get some amusing signage as to how all this went down.
As well as the kind of local flora and fauna this kind of event might generate.
And they want you to name the "secret continent", with SodaStream prizes for the lucky winners.
Keen Bleeding Cool readers will find all this very familiar however, as it is the central conceit of the comic Great Pacific written by Joe Harris.
And so did Joe.
@SodaStream We're one step ahead of you. The continent is called "New Texas" & it's full of surprises. #GreatPacific pic.twitter.com/V7T9ingWHl

He told folk on Facebook,
They're having a contest to "name" the Garbage Patch… I submitted both "New Texas" and "GreatPacificComics.com" as choices… I should start a campaign to have one of those win.
