The Second Volume Of My Favourite Comic Book, Released Digitally Today

I like comics. I like a lot of comics. I like a lot of different kind of comics.

But if I had to choose, through the Sagas, through the From Hells, through the Empowereds, through the All Star Supermen, through the Letter 44s, through the Sandmen, through the Cerebuses, through the Chews... it's the work of Terry Wiley, in Sleaze Castle, Petra Ecetera, Surreal School Stories and now Verity Fair, all in the same twisted wonderful continuity, that is my ultimate favourite…

And now the second Verity Fair volume, Pink Elephants, has just been published digitally through the Sequential App, available on iOS.

I would buy an iPad just to read this.

Verity Fair is a down to earth, slice of life comedy drama, with a primarily British influence, that never takes itself seriously, even when it is busy reinventing the comic book form. It can be read on a number of levels, rarely hits a duff note, and plays with pathos like a professional. The story of Verity Bourneville, an underachieving actress and life and soul of the party, even if something is missing inside.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll go and buy the first volume again. And then try to fathom out the long history of the background behind it all.

Tomorrow is new comics day. But today is Verity Fair day. So treat yourself first. Oh, also, it's half price until Thursday, as is the first volume. So that's $4.99 for 120 pages each, as well as audio commentary, sketches, artwork and additional stories.

If you like comics, you will love Verity Fair. Please, trust me on this one. And click here for the Sequential App…
