SMITE Pro League and SMITE Console Series Become Mixer Exclusives
New broadcasting news for Mixer as the company has formed a new partnership with Hi-Rez Studios to become the exclusive livestreaming home for both the SMITE Pro League and the SMITE Console Series. The deal will include all regular season play, tournaments, and grand championships moving forward, as they will attempt to bring the tournament's record-setting viewership over to Microsoft's streaming service. Everything will officially kick off on March 20th when the SPL will face off against Rival and go head-to-head with NRG esports, starting at 1 p.m. EST.
According to the press release sent out this morning:
"SMITE Pro League broadcasts will implement Mixer's unique co-streaming technology to bring fans more camera angles, perspectives and views. This multicast experience enables you to customize your viewing experience by choosing supplemental feeds that enhance the main broadcast."
No word yet as to how this will affect current sponsorship deals or advertisement programs SMITE already had in place broadcasting on Twitch, YouTube, and other services. You have to tip your hat a bit to Mixer for starting to sign up tournaments with exclusive deals and snatching people away from Twitch, who pretty much rule the land right now with exclusive esports deals. Only time will tell if this works out in both Mixer and SMITE's favor.
