Hyundai Veloster Lands Key Role in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp

Hyundai Veloster isn't the acting pseudonym of Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski. It's actually the name of a car. And that car has been cast in a major role in the upcoming blockbuster movie from Marvel Studios, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

"Fans of Marvel Studios' Ant-Man will soon be introduced to the stylish design and exceptional performance capabilities of the all-new Hyundai Veloster as it will play a significant role in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp," reveals a press release. "Teaming up with this major franchise is part of a global marketing initiative to launch the newly redesigned sporty coupe while increasing Hyundai's brand awareness with Marvel fans around the world."

Not much is known about Veloster's role in the movie aside from its importance, except that it will be "used on screen in a hot pursuit" and that the role will "showcases the Veloster's capabilities in serving as the ultimate escape vehicle as the tailing cars can't handle the speed and handling of the Veloster — no matter its size."

Acting can be a tough career for automobiles. For every success story like James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 or Chevy Chase, there are dozens of cars which are featured in a single film and never receive another job in Hollywood, except for decades later as extras in period pieces. Thanks to the constantly evolving nature of car technology, last year's models rarely have opportunities to star in new films.

"P-p-pt-pt-pt I haven't pt-pt-pt I haven't had a paying job in over 30 years pt-pt-pt-pt-pt-pt," explained Speed Buggy, the star of his own animated series in 1973 that ran in syndication for nearly a decade.

Still, for an up-and-coming auto about to star in its first feature film, the future is still full of possibility for Hyundai Veloster.

"This film is a roller coaster ride from start to finish that will encourage viewers to see their worlds through a more adventurous, action-packed lens," said Mindy Hamilton, Marvel's SVP of Global Partnerships & Marketing, in the press release. "The Veloster totally exemplifies the energetic, no-holds-barred attitude that accompanies this franchise, and we're going to have a lot of fun working with Hyundai to see how we can share that mindset with fans all around the world."

Ant-Man and the Wasp is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip "T.I." Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, Randall Park, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Douglas, and Hyundai Veloster. The movie hits theaters on July 6th.
