The early reactions to The Beekeeper look pretty positive, and it's precisely what we all think it will be, which is fine. Sometimes, it's good when the marketing doesn't lie to you about what you're walking into. We have a new clip today that shows us exactly how Jason Statham's character Clay can use something like an elevator as a weapon to take out an entire group of men trying to kill him. We loved to see it.
The Beekeeper doesn't look like it's trying to remake the wheel in terms of its story. This is another one of those movies with the guy who isn't part of the government who goes on his own mission for his own reasons, but those reasons are actually supposed to be on the side of justice, and we're supposed to sit back and watch him blow the brains out of a bunch of disposable and cartoonishly over the top bad guys. There isn't anything wrong with the fact that this film doesn't appear to be very original. Sometimes, you need something that shows up and does exactly what it says it will do, do it well, and then leave without trying to overly complicate anything. If that is what The Beekeeper gives us, we're all here for it.
