Alicia Vikander Says The Tomb Raider Movie Is Based On The 2013 Reboot
Alicia Vikander is just about set to step into the Tomb Raider shoes. We'd heard that the upcoming film might follow the more realistic version of the Crystal Dynamics games of the last few years, but it seems we now have an even better idea of what it is going to draw from.
Speaking to Hitfix, the actress said that the movie was specifically based on the 2013 reboot of the franchise. She said:
They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013. That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that'll stand on its own two legs.
This honestly, shouldn't be too surprising. That game was based entirely on the beginnings of the Tomb Raider and how Lara Croft fell into the mental faculties to, y'know, murder a bunch of people pretty brutally. I'm all for this.
