Supernatural, The Boys Star Jensen Ackles Posts Holiday Greetings
Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, The Boys) took to social media to share a video offering a holiday toast and good tidings to all.
Heading into the holiday season, we passed along the news that Jensen Ackles & Jared Padalecki had some very interesting things to say about the possibility of them returning to the Supernatural franchise – but those "conversations" were staying on the down-low for now (more on that in a minute). And then there's the not-so-small matter of Prime Video & showrunner Eric Kripke's The Boys – with critics & viewers alike hoping for Ackles to return for another run as Soldier Boy. Personally, we're hoping that Ackles is being considered by DC Studios' James Gunn & Peter Safran for the lead in the "Batman" film Brave and the Bold – and we're still keeping our hopes up that a Saturday Night Live hosting gig is in his immediate future. But even with everything he has in play (we didn't mention his businesses and production work), Ackles still found some time to wish everyone some festive holiday vibes…
"Been a minute…but happiest of holidays and a very merry Christmas to us all!!!" Ackles wrote in his post – a combination of mini video clip and an image of Ackles formally toasting us all:
When it comes to Ackles & Padalecki-starring Supernatural, neither of the two leads has exactly kept it a secret that the door is more than wide open for them to return to the franchise for more – depending on what's in play. Look no further than the prequel spinoff from Ackles, the righteously underrated The Winchesters – though that would turn out to be less of a prequel than an introduction to the "Winchester-verse." Padalecki has even discussed how the series might still be on to this day if they ran 13-episode seasons (the norm in these streaming days).
Well, it looks like Ackles & Padalecki have decided to start moving things forward when it comes to a return of some type, with the duo addressing the topic earlier this month during the 2023 Creation Honolulu convention. "I have some ideas, and I hope that now that the writers are back and the actors are back, we all get together," Padalecki shared with the audience. Ackles added, "Stay tuned on that. There are some conversations regarding that conversation that are being had." Hmmm… could 2024 be the year that Sam & Dean make their return? And the bigger question – how?
