Marisa Tomei Says Tom Holland Is Easy To Adore
One of the biggest changes for comic fans to accept with this new incarnation of Spider-Man is the introduction of a much younger Aunt May. The character has traditionally been portrayed as someone in their 60s or 70s, but actress Marisa Tomei is only 52, a peer and former girlfriend of co-star Robert Downey Jr. We were introduced to the Academy Award winning actress' version of Peter Parker's guardian during Captain America: Civil War where there seemed to be some flirtation between her and Tony Stark when he made a trip to Queens to enlist Spider-Man. But the change in age makes a lot of sense as May is Peter's aunt not grandmother. As a high-schooler, Peter's parents would more likely be in their late 40s or early 50s now, so May shouldn't be that much older than her sister.
In the interview Tomei goes a step further, talking about how Ben was likely her college professor and that May probably had a bit of a wild side. Another concept that might be hard for comic fans to imagine. Tomei also talks about how it didn't take long for her and Tom Holland to build a family bond because, she say Tom is 'easy to adore.'
Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theaters now.
