It's Official – DC Comics Have Destroyed the Rules of 24 Hour Comic Day

We heard this at San Diego Comic-Con and reported as such. But now it has been confirmed with solicitations. DC Comics are publishing 16-page blank comics for 24 Hour Comic Day in October. Including a cover, that would make it 20 pages of blank.

Which breaks the original rules, as laid out by Scott McCloud for Steve Bissette and followed religiously ever since, that it's 24 pages for a 24 Hour Comic.

Is this just a way to help Jim Lee manage to do one on the day? By giving him eight fewer pages to achieve?

There's only one solution. Comic stores must shun the DC 16 page Blank Comics, whether themed to Batman, Superman or Wonder Woman, and instead order the 24-page blank comics from Nat Gertler's About Comics, the very person who made 24 Hour Comic Day a thing and who maintained the archive of 24-hour comics for years.

Also, DC Comics are charging a retail price of a full $2.99 for each blank comic book, so retailers will pay anywhere from $1.50 to $2 for each copy. While Nat Gertler's About Comics charges $65 for 50 copies, that's just over a buck each, including postage to anywhere in the USA.

You could always draw the Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman logos on yourself…
