A Graphic Novel From Lush Tackles The Evils Of Sandalwood Smuggling
Lush Cosmetics is a popularish British chain, selling lots of lovely looking, smelling and described soaps and things. They look like this.
And this.
And this.
You probably get the idea.
What you might not expect to find there is a brand new original graphic novel, created by staff members and sold in store.
But you will, this weekend.
On The Trail of Sandalwood Smugglers follows two real life members of Lush's buying team, who source all their product ingredients, Simon Constantine and Agnès Gendry, who write the book, as they set out on a journey into the nefarious underworld of sandalwood smuggling. Sandalwood is an ingredient that Lush use in a number of their products and perfumes, and this graphic novel tells the true tale of deceit, duplicity and decapitation as they journey across the globe to sniff out its true nature.
The book is drawn by Chicago's Plastic Crimewave and will launch in London on Wednesday. I don't think I can make it but it sounds pretty fancy…
And because this is a world of synergy, Lush are also launching a new range of perfumes and products that night, two of which have been inspired by the book.
What's next, Carphone Warehouse cosplay?
Of course there is.
