CB Cebulski Moves To China, Full-Time, For Marvel And Disney
We pointed out something like this was coming earlier in the week. Now it all official. Marvel's CB Cebulski is moving his New York base to Disney Shanghai….
With today being my Marvel anniversary, I guess it's the perfect time to talk about some big news I've been sitting on till the right moment presented itself.
Since starting with the company in 2002, I've had a number of different roles at Marvel… editor, writer, consultant, talent scout, business development. As Marvel has grown, so have the positions for me and so many other people within the organization. We've gone from making comic books to managing a global phenomenon. And today, I'm happy to announce that I'll soon be moving into my biggest role at Marvel yet.
I've recently agreed to spearhead efforts to further manage and develop Marvel's brand in Asia. It's the natural extension of a lot of what I've been doing already, except moving forward, I won't be on as many long haul flights; you see, I'm relocating!
Mutsumi and I, and Clyde, are all moving to China!!
In order to better support the continuing endeavors of all my friends and colleagues in the Disney offices across Asia, I'll be Marvel's man inside the Disney Shanghai offices beginning this Spring.
Our move date has not been finalized just yet, but we're heading over to start our apartment hunt in early March. Once that's all settled upon, the visa and logistical processes begin and may take a few months. (Have you ever looked into moving a 16 year old cat to China?!) So I expect we'll be saying goodbye to New York City, after a 20 year run, in early May.
Oh yes, there will be a big blowout! Or should I say "blowouts", as I'll still be attending C2E2 and ECCC!!
But not to worry, we may be moving to the other side of the world, but friends and family back home will still see me around. I'll be back on business many times a year, and won't be missing SDCC or NYCC if I can help it.
It's a big step for us… we're nervous but excited, saddened but thrilled, all at the same time.
Marvel and our characters have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I still wake up with a smile on my face everyday knowing I work for a company I've loved since I was a kid. Now I'll just be waking up in a different country, but still with the same goals in mind… to make sure that a new generation of fans around the world can experience the same Marvel magic that made me a true believer 40 years ago!
Congratulations on the move CB! And see you in London next month?
