Cheryl Blossom And Breast Cancer – Archie Comics Continues To Explore Real Life
Gay marriages. Death. Divorce. Globalisation protest. Archie Comics continues to give more of a real life take on modern society for a young audience than it may have done so in the past, and in the process making the likes of DC and Marvel look like old fuddy duddies.
In the new Life With archie, which has explored a number of these themes, dealing with an older Riverdale set, Cheryl Blossom, now in her twenties, is shown dealing with breast cancer and its treatment.
Of all the characters to use, Cheryl Blossom was the most overtly glamourous, making the contrast to her emaciated hairless frame all the more powerful. In Life With Archie, and the scene above courtesy of the AP, we see her in the process of deciding whether to leave her Californian acting career and return to Riverdale.
I bet she comes back.
