Jess Smart Smiley of Utah has just signed a contract with Top Shelf to create a new teen graphic novel series, Upside Down.

He's also just finished a new short story in comics form called "A Map in the Dirt, which he's printing using the fundraising social network kickstarter. People can buy the book, sketchbooks, giant coloring posters and original art.

It's already had positive reviews from Scott McCloud, Hope Larson, Alision Bechdel and Eleanor Davis… what do you think?
