We are getting a lot of fun movies this summer, but one special treat we have right around the corner is director Steven Spielberg making another science fiction movie. We're still learning a lot about the film, and it seems like we're going to have to wait until release day before we're actually disclosed much [I'll see myself out]. Spielberg has directed a wide variety of films across many different genres, each with its own pacing and structure. However, when it comes to Disclosure Day, Spielberg explained to Empire that this is an action movie that doesn't take its sweet time getting going, but that doesn't mean we'll lose anything along the way.

"It's an action movie," Spielberg explained. "It has a large scale. It comes out of the gate very fast. I think this is a very experiential story. … It's also a very emotional deep dive into how people perceive each other, so it has echoes of the divisiveness that goes on today. Within the genre of science-fiction, it offers a few solutions regarding the importance of empathy."

Of course, the first thing everyone is doing is comparing this film to Close Encounters because of course they are. If Spielberg made another movie and a dinosaur showed up, we'd all be comparing it to Jurassic Park. It's in our nature to compare things. However, screenwriter David Koepp explained that while Disclosure Day "has a certain amount in common with certain '70s conspiracy thrillers but in a completely different way from Close Encounters," that wasn't the film he would compare this. Koepp explained, "This felt like Three Days Of The Condor to me. Conspiracies are fantastic for movies because they're an onion, and you peel away layers and find out more and more."

Considering the state of everything, a good conspiracy theory film is always going to be fun. Just saw someone online today ask where the stars were in the picture NASA released of the Earth from the Aretmis II mission, like it was some massive gotcha.
