Sunrise on the Reaping – New Footage Teased In Franchise Lookback

Lionsgate has released an extensive franchise lookback for The Hunger Games, with new footage from Sunrise on the Reaping teased at the end.

Lionsgate has shared an extensive franchise lookback at The Hunger Games. The over 15-minute video goes over the entire franchise, teasing major plot points and characters from the original four movies and the first prequel film. However, at the very end of the video, in the last thirty seconds or so, we see some new footage from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The way the footage is set up, we see the original versions of the characters from previous films and the versions we'll be meeting in this new film, including Elle Fanning as Effie Trinke, Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Jesse Plemons as a young Plutarch Heavensbee, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, and more. Considering how well The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes performed in November, we should expect this one to be a major contender at the box office when it releases on November 20, 2026.

Summary: "Sunrise on the Reaping will revisit the world of Panem twenty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell."

The film adaptation of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be released on November 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence will direct from a screenplay adaptation by Billy Ray. Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will produce. Cameron MacConomy will executive produce.
