Gotcha. New Black Mirror Season 3 Trailers Hits Us In Our Technological Blind Spot
There's the inevitable comparisons to The Twilight Zone, but Black Mirror is actually quite a bit more specific than that. It's that intersection where the pace of technology outruns the ability of society to deal with it, and grim hilarity ensues — or horror, more likely, depending on your point of view.
As creator Charlie Brooker just told IndieWire.
"Usually if something is so horrendous that people are staggering away, I'm kind of like, 'Yay! Mission accomplished!'" he said. "We always want to elicit a response. Not all our episodes are just sort of bleak fests and the like. We've got a little bit more variety this time around. But certainly we want a response from the viewer."
Part of that flight response is the inescapable subtext that these things might happen with greater and greater frequency, leading to… what? Perhaps the show will tell us, eventually.
Season 3 debuts on Netflix October 21.
