A little more than a week after the fourth season of Ronald D. Moore and Ben Nedivi & Matt Wolpert's For All Mankind wrapped up its run, some really good news regarding the future of the streaming series. While the show's creators discussed having a seven-season plan to tell their story in the past – and the show continues gathering attention (and viewers) with each passing run – nothing is ever guaranteed these days, so best to take things on a season-by-season basis. But while a fifth season may not have been officially given a green light, word came down earlier today that storyline ideas & scripts are already being worked on.
During a special edition of NASA Space Flight – Astro Live, retired astronauts Mike Massimino (CBS's The Big Bang Theory) and Garrett Reisman took over as hosts to cover a wide range of current space news as well as offer up stories of their time among the stars. At one point during the episode (thanks to Chris Bergin – NSF for the clip), Reisman – who serves as an advisor on the show – shared that work was already underway on the fifth season and that he was in the writers' room last week "working on concepts and ideas for Season 5." Though not willing/able to get into details (spoilers, people!), Reisman did add, "It's going to be pretty cool where we're taking the show"
And here's a look at the entire episode from earlier today that's definitely worth your time:
Returning for the fourth season were Joel Kinnaman, Wrenn Schmidt, Krys Marshall, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, and Coral Peña – with Toby Kebbell, Tyner Rushing, Daniel Stern, and Svetlana Efremova joining the cast as series regulars. Now, here's a look back at the official Season 4 trailer for Apple TV+'s For All Mankind – currently streaming:
Rocketing into the new millennium in the eight years since season three, Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners. Now 2003, the focus of the space program has turned to the capture and mining of extremely valuable, mineral-rich asteroids that could change the future of both Earth and Mars. But simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working towards.
Apple TV+'s For All Mankind is created by Emmy Award winner Moore and Emmy nominees Nedivi & Wolpert. Nedivi and Wolpert serve as showrunners and executive produce alongside Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, and Seth Edelstein. The streaming series is produced for Apple TV+ by Sony Pictures Television – with the first three seasons currently available to stream on Apple TV+ (for those of you needing to play catch-up or want to do a binge rewatch before the fourth season premieres).
