Jack Black Strips Down for Taylor Swift/"Anti-Hero" Cover (Here's Why)

Jack Black stripped down for a surprise cover performance of the hit Taylor Swift song "Anti-Hero" - and it was for a very good cause.

Article Summary

  • Jack Black stripped down to underwear for a cover of Taylor Swift’s "Anti-Hero".
  • The performance was part of a fundraiser amid recent entertainment industry strikes.
  • Black's cover aimed to raise financial assistance for impacted union and non-union crew members.
  • "The Give Back-ular Spectacular!" included other stars like Bryan Cranston and Halle Berry.

When he's not getting honored for guest-starring in Lucasfilm's The Mandalorian Season 3 or shopping his Superman audition tape to DC Studios co-head & Superman: Legacy writer/director James Gunn, all-around multi-talent & pop culture icon Jack Black is doing his part to help those crew members hurting financially due to the SAG-AFTRA and other recent strikes impacting the entertainment industry. [Ed. Note: make a deal, AMPTP!]. And if that means stripping down to his underwear and singing Taylor Swift's hit single, "Anti-Hero"? Well, then it's gonna happen – as it did on Wednesday night during "The Give Back-ular Spectacular!" co-sponsored by The Union Solidarity Coalition.

But before his spectacular performance, Black kicked things off by stripping down to your undies & socks and then working the crowd for jokes and requests. Of course, with the strike still ongoing, there were some selections that Black couldn't touch. But then someone offered up Swift's global hit – and apparently, something sparked inside of Black. "I know that one, everyone knows that fuckin' song," Black declared to the audience. And from there, the magic of Black song &dance performance played out on the stage. Thankfully, The Independent was able to pass along a video of the greatness as it went down – here's a look:

Taking place the night before the actors' union & AMPTP were set to return to talks – with SAG-AFTRA expected to have a response to the most recent proposals from the studios & streamers, the event looked to raise financial assistance for union and non-union crew members who are struggling after going with paychecks for months. The emergency relief funds have kept crew members and their families from losing their homes and health insurance and helped put food on the table for many families. Along with Black, "The Give Back-ular Spectacular!" also included Bryan Cranston, Patton Oswalt, Halle Berry, Lily Tomlin, Lil Dicky, Jason Alexander, and many more.
