Smackdown Video Highlights from the Fastlane Go-Home Show
Last night, WWE aired the final episode of WWE Smackdown before WWE Fastlane this Sunday. If you missed the show last night and are worried that you won't be able to understand what's going on at the PPV because of WWE's trademark complex storytelling, don't worry: they've released the whole show, minus all the filler, on YouTube.
Ahead of the Women's Tag Team Championship match between the team of Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair against champs Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, Jax challenged Banks for her Smackdown Women's Championship on WWE Smackdown this week. Surprisingly, it was a miscommunication between Jax and Baszler that cost Jax the match here. What implications does that have for the tag title match?
Later in the night, Baszler would face off with Belair, but Jax abandoned Belair at ringside. The match ended in a no contest when more tag title contenders joined the fray.
Seth Rollins looked to expand his feud with Cesaro, but got an angry Shinsuke Nakamura instead, begging the question: is Rollins a midcarder now?
The Mysterios and the Street Profits both have legitimate claims to challenge for the Smackdown men's tag team championships. In a match this week, The Mysterios were victorious.
But Alpha Academy might have something to say about that, since they defeated the Mysterios in the very next match.
The Smackdown Tag Team Championship scene is in chaos, just like WWE's booking. Can they get a match made by WrestleMania, much less Fastlane?
Sami Zayn continued to circle the drain on Smackdown after losing to The Ratings King of Friday Nights, Baron Corbin.
The sit-down interview with Big E and Apollo Crews went about as well as you might expect:
And Edge was victorious against Jey Uso to become the special enforcer at Fastlane, eating a spear from Roman Reigns for his troubles.
