Image To Republish 'User' The Genderfluid Comic By Devin Grayson, Sean Phillips And John Bolton
There's a blast from the past.
Image Comics is to collect and publish User, the three issue prestige format series by Devin Grayson, Sean Phillips and John Bolton, originally published by DC Vertigo in 2001. And it's getting a hardcover.
Originally published as a groundbreaking three-part Vertigo miniseries, User explores sexual identity and online role-playing in the text-based MUDs of the nineties. Featuring breath-taking art by Sean Phillips and John Bolton, User–which was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for its authentic portrayal of genderfluidity—is as relevant and powerful today as it was when first created.
Grayson has said this was her most personal of comic book works. With a return to comics in a minor way in recent years, with Vampirella and Red Sonja, Womanthology and a recently published Doctor Strange novel for Marvel, could this be the sign of something more to come – and from Image as well?
