Smurfs Are Back Smurfing In America

I blame Avatar. Suddenly it put Smurfs back in the national consciousness.

NBM/Papercutz are republishing the Belgian comic book series created by Pierre Culliford in both softcover and hardcover to the USA market as well as releasing a one dollar preview comic. Rebranded as "Smurfs graphic novels", each contains three full stories for $5.99, which is pretty good by modern standards.

Smurfs have proved very popular over the decades, in comic, cartoon, song and toys, but of late have rather fallen out of fashion and, indeed, print.

The Purple Smurf, The Smurfs and the Magic Flute and The Smurf King are published later this year.
