What Are DC Comics Planning for General Zod?
We always like to keep an eye on trademarks by comic book companies with big multi-media presences. Because if they go to the bother of trademarking them, it usually means there's a film or a TV series on the way. You can check this post from 2016 long before a Pennyworth TV series was announced, but obviously a lead-in to it. Or from earlier in the year for Marvel's Helstrom. But not Glyph… not yet, anyway. So it's not guaranteed. But it's a good indication of a company's priorities and what they want to cover off legally.
Which is why it is notable that DC Comics and Warner Bros have applied to register General Zod as a trademark for;
Toys, games and playthings, namely, action figures and accessories therefor; plush toys; balloons; bathtub toys; ride-on toys; equipment sold as a unit for playing card games; toy vehicles; dolls; flying discs; electronic hand-held game unit; game equipment sold as a unit for playing a board game, a card game, a manipulative game, a parlor game and an action type target game; stand alone video output game machines; jigsaw and manipulative puzzles; paper face masks; skateboards; ice skates; water squirting toys; balls, namely, playground balls, soccer balls, baseballs, basketballs; baseball gloves; swimming floats for recreational use; kickboard flotation devices for recreational use; surfboards; swim boards for recreational use; swim fins; toy bakeware and toy cookware; toy banks; snow globes; Christmas tree ornaments; paper party favors; Gaming machines, namely, devices which accept a wager; Reconfigurable casino and lottery gaming equipment, namely, gaming machines and operational computer games software therefor sold as a unit
Now, this is just for toys, games, ornaments and whatnot. But it is an indication that they have plans in general… for the General…
