Comics Folk Respond To… IDW Buying Top Shelf
So who else remembers buying The Staros Report? Who else still has their copies.
Today, this happened. I'd heard that Bill Schanes was working for IDW, but not in what capacity. The West Coast is not even awake yet but…
All single issues of comics sold by Top Shelf mysteriously had their cover prices raised to $3.99 this morning… (I kid because I love.)

Mixed feelings about the IDW/Topshelf merger. Plenty of upsides. Wondering about digital distribution.

I actually found my @IDWPublishing key from the Locke & Key set yesterday and happily thought oh! I work for them now!! That's neat

Only bummer of Top Shelf/IDW news is official comics retirement of @brettwarnock, though no surprise. Did a nice spot at SDCC just open up?

totally makes sense that idw and top shelf would make that deal; moreso in a real world context — http://t.co/8Yqy4gLieo

Haha I bet [popular licensed-property IDW comic] will cross over into [critically-praised Top Shelf book] now

WAIT. Does IDW buying Top Shelf mean we could get "Transformers vs. Incredible Change-Bots?" Because that would be amazing.
— Alex Zalben (@azalben) January 6, 2015
Cool to hear about the IDW buying TopShelf! I look forward to March Volume 3 with a special Transformers / Ghostbusters crossover in it.
— Aaron Meyers (@AaronMeyers) January 6, 2015
IDW buying Top Shelf, I'm onboard if it means the 1980s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen can include Optimus Prime.
— Jamie McKelvie (@McKelvie) January 6, 2015
From Top Shelf/IDW the crossover you ask for years! The League of The Extraordinary Gentlemen Vs G.I.Joe!

I'm pretty sure God dumped four inches of snow on Columbus so work would get delayed and I could write that IDW/Top Shelf news story.
— Christian Hoffer (@OH_IGW) January 6, 2015
Okay, IDW just gained some serious leverage that their chief competitors don't have

Cannot believe Top Shelf bought IDW. Did they need to kickstart for that kinda coin?
— Ryan K Lindsay (@ryanklindsay) January 6, 2015
Here's hoping Top Shelf and IDW folks don't lose their jobs like I have every time M&A happened.
— Amber Love (@elizabethamber) January 6, 2015
All Top Shelf staff are retaining their jobs at IDW.

IDW buying Top Shelf? That surprises me a little. What wouldn't surprise me at all? IDW and BOOM!
— Jeff Harris (@nemalki) January 6, 2015
As a creator, naturally the biggest upside to this Top Shelf/IDW merger is my getting to share convention snacks with @TaranKillam .
— Nate Powell (@Nate_Powell_Art) January 6, 2015
Does this mean I can put IDW on my CV now?
— Eric Orchard (@Inkybat) January 6, 2015
The COO of IDW actually bought some original art from me at NYCC.

@christiansager Truth. I always have great conversations with him and he's never not smiling. I'm thrilled for the IDW news.
