Midnight Release Parties for Batman #50 Around the World
Eight hours ago the Batman #50 midnight releases began in the UK and have just now kicked off in California. Some stores have complained that they didn't get the comics they ordered in time for the event, and some that the released spoilers may have ruined the event, though DC Comics has promised to cover certain promotional costs. And now DC Comics PR has been sending out the *real* end of issue spoilers, which have just started to run on big media sites, so do watch it if you remain unspoiled… but here is how those midnight releases played out in comic book stores tonight.
Stopped by @ForbiddenPlanet for the Batman #50 midnight launch. I got me some sexy ass comics! 🖤 pic.twitter.com/k9u9c8JzUW

You'd think that midnight, July 4th, would be a light time to but comics.
You'd be wrong. Batman #50 (with the Batman/Catwoman wedding) and Captain America #1 brings fans out! pic.twitter.com/B3rd0cw3AE

Me: Okay. Midnight launch of Batman Marries Catwoman. I'll get two or three of the midnight comics, two or three from my subs, and my auction items. $40 at most.
Cashier: $86.

All the comic stores doing midnight openings tonight, or opening on Independence Day, to let people read Batman, Captain America or whatever, thank you. It's very unnecessary, but still.

Non-baseball tweet: I went to a midnight release for Batman #50 and raced home to read it, because I'm a nerd.
S/O to @TomKingTK for putting together such a beautiful issue that defines Batman, Catwoman and their relationship so perfectly.

And looks like Comiology joined in too…
Cool that Comixology has new comics at midnight since all those damn Batman spoilers are going around. Managed to avoid so far and am now going to read so leave me alone for a few. :)

Issue $50 of Batman is up on Comixology? 👀
Man. Hopefully this means more midnight releases in the future.

Of course some comic shops had to do without…
Apparently many shops didn't get their shipment and are in the same boat. Some didn't even get their Batman 50 order so had to cancel their midnight event. So could be worse for me.

The Batman #50 midnight event is hours away! The cosplayers and festivities start at 11pm! Tons of copies are here for the event! Unfortunately though, this week's order had a massive problem with its shipment and only a few boxes arrived. Open tonight but will be closed tomorrow pic.twitter.com/qj1FOhiSu3
