New Spirits of Vengeance Leads Seventh Set Of Marvel Legacy Industry-Changing Title Reveals
Like an unspeakable horror straight out of a drug-fueled nightmare, Marvel Comics has been slowly but surely unraveling the threads of reality itself by changing the comic book industry over and over again with its Marvel Legacy homage cover and title reveals. Though the publisher warned us yesterday that this was coming, nobody could have possibly foreseen the devastating havoc that nonstop industry change would wreak upon our universe.
How has Marvel managed such a villainous feat? By releasing sets of six covers for upcoming comics that will be published as part of Marvel Legacy. Sure, these are basically the same comics as before, except maybe with their title slightly tweaked to make it possible to return to legacy numbering, but we know that they are industry-changing because Marvel said they would be. Yes, homaging past covers that remind readers of when Marvel had new ideas, instead of relying on rehashing old ones, hardly clarifies as "different, but who are we to argue with press release hyperbole!
"A new initiative that will take things back to our iconic history, with a firm eye on the future, MARVEL LEGACY will present stories that remind everyone — newcomers and longtime fans alike — why Marvel stands as the premier name in fiction," said Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso in that fateful prophecy, though we were too stupid to understand the importance of his words. God, we were so naive. "Our titles will unearth gems from Marvel's rich history, remind readers of connections between characters, and usher in the return of some major characters who've been missed. Above all else, we want to inject our comics with a massive dose of fun!"
Now, it's too late. Down is up. Right is wrong. Legacy numbers are the new number one issue reboots! All we know is that we don't know anything. Marvel Legacy launches in December, and the comic book industry will never be the same, but the question is: will we all survive this to see what it looks like?
The latest round of covers features a new Spirits of Vengeance book starring Ghost Rider, Blade, Daimon Hellstrom, and Satanna. We also finally learn what was up with that Spider-Man cover that was incorrectly published instead of Spider-Man vs. Deadpool earlier today.
