NYCC: Exhibiting Artist Spotlight: IDW Premieres Edward Scissorhands
Kaelyn Kelly-Colon writes for Bleeding Cool:
While Kate Leth is certainly not an unknown name to con attendees and comic lovers, one of her latest projects – a collaboration with artist Drew Rausch, among others – is making it's debut at NYCC this year. I had the pleasure of stopping by this afternoon, grabbing one of her last convention sketch cover slots, and talking to her briefly about her work on IDW's Edward Scissorhands. This was a conversation we had briefly touched upon a few months earlier when at Small Press Expo in Maryland, and it's incredibly exciting to finally see it's release. Leth, who wrote the comic, has expressed her experience working with this well-loved story several times, online and offline, over the past few months.
Her clear passion for the story and the quality of the release, with it's crisp storytelling and well-paced exposition, certainly feels like a labor of love. If you're too shy to pick up a copy and stop by Leth's table in time to get it signed, there is still good news. "We may do a guerilla Scissorhands signing, at some point," Leth teased on her tumblr. She went on to urge fans to keep an eye on her twitter for more details about the potential signing on Saturday. Leth also took time to dish about Edward Scissorhands project over the IDW panel in the afternoon, and with good reason – the wait is finally over. Visually stunning and compelling from cover to cover, this con exclusive is available for purchase at IDW, booth #1811, and the multitalented artist and author will be tabling at BOOM! studio's booth #1344 for the rest of the convention.
