Bound For Banbury Geek Con On A Saturday Morning…

As the doors open in the Castle Quay Shopping Centre in Banbury, Oxfordshire, I find myself on the train there, heading out of London on a wet Saturday morning with the girls for an adventure.

Geek Con, Banbury's first comic convention – indeed Oxford's first since Caption left for less sunny climes – is about to begin. Free entry and a promised appearance of the people behind the Phoenix Comic has spurred our journey.

It's organised by the man who runs the local comic shop Comic Connections – until recently Oxordshire's only comic shop – and it's also handily in the town where my parents have retired to.

Even more of a reason to whizz through the wet, green British countryside.
